Dan Shifrin, Esq.

Mr. Shifrin, who serves as of counsel to the firm, has been a registered patent attorney for over 26 years allowing him to assist patent and trademark clients nationwide. His clients include individual inventors as well as small, medium, and large companies. He specializes in evaluating invention disclosures, drafting, prosecuting, and appealing patent applications, prosecuting trademark registrations, and preparing patentability, validity, and infringement/non-infringement opinions.

Mr. Shifrin previously worked as in-house patent counsel for IBM and Cirrus Logic overseeing the intellectual property of several business units of those companies. As such, he has experience managing corporate patent portfolios and supervising outside U.S. and foreign intellectual property attorneys. He has worked closely with engineers, corporate general legal counsel, and business managers and has participated on corporate teams to evaluate the intellectual property of prospective acquisitions.

Mr. Shifrin has handled inventions in a broad range of areas, including: electrical, electronic, computer, fault-tolerant systems, software, neural networks, rotating optical and magnetic storage media, automated optical and magnetic storage retrieval libraries, data compression, energy, geographic information systems (GIS), automotive, medical, beverage containers, mechanical, robotics, construction, tools, home maintenance, outdoor recreation, fitness, law enforcement, and various consumer items, among others.
